How to Go From a 600 to 700 Credit Score
A 600 credit score doesn’t tell you the whole story. Two people can have the same score and still need completely different strategies depending on what’s happening inside their credit profiles. In Build to 700, Episode 1, Adam Spencer breaks down the areas he would focus on first if he were trying to strengthen a credit profile and move from around 600 toward 700. The goal isn’t to chase 100 points or rely on a quick credit trick. It’s to understand what may actually be holding the profile back, address the factors you can control, and stop adding new problems. In this video, you’ll learn how to evaluate:
- What’s actually reporting on all three credit reports
- High credit card utilization and reported balances
- Payment history and recent late payments
- Recent applications and newly opened accounts
- The age and strength of existing positive accounts
- Negative information on your credit reports
- The overall direction of your credit profile over time
The video also compares two people with the same approximate 600 credit score. One has no missed payments but several credit cards near their limits. The other has low utilization but a recent late payment and several newly opened accounts.
Same score. Different plan. That’s the idea behind Profile Over Points: instead of focusing only on the number, understand the information that is producing the score.
There is no guaranteed formula or universal timeline for going from 600 to 700. Different credit profiles can require different priorities, and credit scores can vary by bureau, scoring model, and the information being reported.

That episode goes deeper into reported balances, individual versus overall utilization, reporting timing, and why the commonly repeated “stay under 30%” rule is more complicated than it sounds.
